DIBELS (dynamic indicators of basic early literacy skills) are short tests that illustrate how well students perform in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension- all components of a strong reading regimen.

In Baltimore City Public Schools, Dibels is administered three times a year to assess student performance and whether they are on track for grade-level reading success.

• Over 80% of BCPS students who took Dibels while being tutored by YTT experienced growth that is considered well above average or above average compared to their peers
• YTT students experienced an average growth of 106% in the area of Reading Fluency- more than doubling their initial performance and demonstrating significant capabilities in reading grade-level text with fluency!
• In the skill of Letter Sounds, students experienced 116% average growth. Strong letter-sound recognition allows students to break words into sounds, blend them together, and read with confidence.
