Homeschool Co-Op

YTT Homeschool Co-Op: Led by Teachers

The YTT Homeschool Co-Op is more than your average co-op. It’s a Homeschool Tutorial! It differs in that tutors facilitate and teach the lessons, instead of parents. Our model allows families to supplement their homeschool curriculum with support in ELA/Literacy and Math from a certified educator in a small-group classroom setting. Tutorial students have a chance to connect with other students in mixed-age groups in order to build long-lasting relationships with peers. Parent involvement is encouraged but not required.

– Our Philosophy –
Social-Emotional Learning and Relationship-Building

Our goal is to support homeschooling parents by reinforcing key Math and Literacy skills while igniting a sense of curiosity and excitement for learning through creative projects and real-world applications.

Social-emotional learning (also known as SEL, or emotional intelligence) and relationship-building are the foundations for creating and maintaining a positive learning experience rooted in building healthy relationships, strengthening one’s character, and self-regulation.

Location and Eligibility

YTT’s Homeschool Co-Op is held at 5310 Hazelwood Ave., Baltimore, MD 21206.

A homeschooling tutorial and a homeschooling co-op are two different approaches to homeschooling that offer distinct advantages and learning experiences.

A homeschooling tutorial typically involves one-on-one instruction between a qualified tutor or teacher and a single student or a small group of students. The tutor provides personalized attention, tailoring the curriculum and teaching methods to the specific needs and learning style of each student. This individualized approach allows for a flexible and customized learning experience, as the tutor can adapt the pace and content to ensure optimal understanding and progress. Homeschooling tutorials are often sought out by families who prefer a highly personalized and focused educational setting.

On the other hand, a homeschooling co-op brings together a group of homeschooling families to share resources, expertise, and social opportunities. In a co-op, parents take turns teaching various subjects or skills to a group of students, allowing them to benefit from the expertise and perspectives of multiple parents or educators. Co-ops often organize regular group activities, field trips, and social events, fostering a sense of community and providing opportunities for students to interact and collaborate with their peers. Homeschooling co-ops are popular among families seeking a cooperative and social learning environment for their children.

YTT Homeschool Tutorial is unique. We offer opportunities for collaborative-learning in mixed age groups while ensuring each child receives targeted math and/or literacy support based on their individualized needs. We encourage parent volunteers to support the tutor in the lessons and supervise outdoor activities but do not require participation.

We require a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 8 students in each tutorial group.

There may be opportunities to organize field trips. If so, this will be communicated to parents. Parent volunteers will be requested to participate and a permission slip will need to be filled out and returned.

Teachers will conduct an assessment to determine where the students are performing in math and/or literacy in order to create an individualized plan for learning. Parents can request a copy of any assessment teachers administer for their documentation. Students will receive an end of semester student summary.

Our teacher tutors are there to guide and support your students through their educational journey. Our tutors’ most important goal is to build a rapport, engage your child, and encourage them as they hit personal milestones. If you would like YTT to facilitate homeschooling for your child with your chosen curriculum, we have separate packages for that and our Student Solutions Team would be happy to help answer any questions you have.

We rent classroom space in a church building however, there is no religious affiliation or instruction associated with our tutoring services.

How Can We Help You?
